Supported employment

SEND4 Supported employment is designed to assist individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment find and maintain paid employment in integrated settings. This means that individuals with disabilities who participate in supported employment programs are able to work alongside individuals who do not have disabilities, rather than being segregated in separate workshops or training programs.

Individuals receive ongoing support and assistance from trained professionals, who help them with tasks such as job search, confidence building, and interview preparation. They may also receive ongoing support on the job, such as help with tasks or communication with coworkers or supervisors.

The goal of supported employment is to enable individuals with disabilities to achieve the same level of independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency as everyone else.
