Choosing the right provision for yourself, your child or someone you support is an important decision. We understand you'll probably have lots of questions, and we're here to make the process as clear and straightforward as possible.
Whether you've been referred by a professional or you're exploring SEND4 yourself, we'd always encourage you to get in touch, ask questions and, if possible, come and visit us.
Making a Referral
How can someone access SEND4?
There are several ways to access SEND4, depending on individual circumstances.
Professional Referrals
Many of our members are referred by professionals who are already involved in their support. Referrals can be made by:
- Schools and Colleges
- Local Authorities
- SEND Caseworkers
- Social Workers
- CAMHS
- GPs and other Healthcare Professionals
- Educational Psychologists
- Other Specialist Services
We'll work with everyone involved to understand the individual's needs and recommend the most appropriate SEND4 programme.
Parent or Carer Enquiries
Parents and carers are also welcome to contact us directly.
This is often the case where families have secured EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than At School) funding or home education funding and are looking for a personalised programme.
If you're unsure whether SEND4 is right for your child, we'd be happy to discuss your circumstances and explain the options available.
What Happens Next?
Once we receive your enquiry or referral, we'll usually:
- Arrange an initial conversation.
- Review any reports or supporting information.
- Invite you to visit SEND4.
- Discuss the most appropriate programme or pathway.
- Explain the next steps.
Every individual is different, so we take the time to understand their strengths, interests and support needs before making any recommendations.
Visiting SEND4
We believe the best way to understand SEND4 is to experience it.
A visit gives you the opportunity to meet our team, look around our sites, explore our facilities and ask any questions you may have. You'll get a feel for the environment and see what everyday life at SEND4 is really like.
There is absolutely no pressure to make a decision following your visit—we simply want you to have the information you need to decide if SEND4 is the right fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an EHCP to attend SEND4?
In most cases, yes.
Many of the children and young people who attend SEND4 have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with placements commissioned through their Local Authority.
However, this isn't always the case. We also support individuals through EOTAS packages, home education funding and other commissioned arrangements.

Can I visit SEND4 before making a referral?
Yes. We actively encourage visits before any decisions are made. Meeting the team and seeing our environment often helps families and young people decide whether SEND4 is the right place for them.
What ages do you support?
SEND4 provides programmes for children from 5 years old, through young people and into adulthood. Our support evolves as people move through different stages of education, employment and independent living.
Will everyone follow the same programme?
No. Every member follows a personalised programme based on their individual needs, interests, aspirations and agreed outcomes. No two SEND4 journeys are the same.
What if my child is anxious about starting?
Many of the people who join SEND4 have experienced challenges with education or new environments. Our team understands this and will work at a pace that suits the individual, helping them build confidence, develop relationships and settle into SEND4 in a way that feels safe and comfortable.
What if SEND4 isn't the right place?
We'll always be honest.
If we don't believe SEND4 is the most appropriate provision, we'll explain why and, wherever possible, signpost you towards other organisations or services that may better meet your needs.
