Momentum Work (Post-16)
You don't have to know what you want to do... just be ready to discover it.
Choosing a career is a big decision, but you don't have to have all the answers. Momentum Work gives young people the opportunity to explore different industries, experience real workplaces and discover what they're genuinely passionate about before taking the next step.
Every programme is built around the individual. One week you could be restoring an engine, the next recording a podcast, working alongside an engineer, spending time with animals, creating digital content, helping at a local business or experiencing life behind the scenes in hospitality or retail. By trying different industries, members build practical skills, confidence and a clearer picture of where their future could lead.
Momentum Work includes:
- Practical vocational experiences across a wide range of industries
- Meaningful work experience with local employers
- Hands-on projects using SEND4's specialist facilities
- Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
- Employer visits and industry experiences
- Workplace skills, teamwork and communication
- CV writing and interview preparation
- Access to accredited qualifications through Open Awards
Learning is practical, personalised and linked to each member's EHCP outcomes, aspirations and next steps.
Qualifications that recognise progress
Alongside practical learning and real-world experience, Momentum members can work towards accredited qualifications through Open Awards, a recognised awarding organisation whose regulated qualifications are regulated by Ofqual.
Qualifications are selected around the individual, helping members gain recognised achievements while building the skills they need for independence, further learning and employment.
You don't need all the answers when you start. You just need the opportunity to discover them. That's what Momentum Work is all about.
